A Message From Our President

The financial crisis dominates the headlines each day with talk of bankruptcies, layoffs, bailouts and
stimulus plans. What can any one of us do to improve the situation?

Why not create a stimulus plan of your own - - a trail stimulus plan. Soon the spring will return and
warmer weather will grace northeast Indiana once again. Put together a plan to take advantage of the
Rivergreenway system in Fort Wayne to improve your health and fitness (and perhaps your outlook on
life in these troubled times). There are many ways to do so:

Try a regimen of bicycle rides on the Maumee Trail from downtown Fort Wayne to beautiful Moser
Park in New Haven or perhaps from downtown to Foster Park or Tillman Park on the St. Mary's Trail

Consider regular walks along our Rivergreenway downtown. Try the Circle of Hope Trail and enjoy
the natural beauty of the Three Rivers' confluence.

For runners, try jogging along the St. Mary's, St. Joesph's or Maumee Trails in the Rivergreenway
system.

For the truly ambitious, train to compete in the Second Annual Fort-4-Fitness Half Marathon in
September. Our Rivergreenway system provides ample miles for a training program.

There are many other ways that you can help support the Rivergreenway system and the Greenway
Consortium. Get a friend to join the Greenway Consortium or make an additional financial contribution
yourself. Volunteer to help as a greenway ranger or as an advocate for greenway development. Our
Rivergreenway in Fort Wayne stands as a magnificent resource for health and fitness, both body and
mind. We at the Greenway Consortium invite you to take advantage of it.
